LED Strips

Our RGB LED strips use individually-addressable ICs that combine an RGB LED and a driver into a single compact package, allowing you to control the color and brightness of each pixel independently. The strips are available with two different types of ICs:

• SK9822/APA102C-based LED strips have a standard SPI protocol that allows them to work with a wide range of communication speeds, although they require two I/O lines to control. They also feature color-independent brightness control and high (20 kHz) refresh rates that make them suitable for persistence-of-vision (POV) applications.

• SK6812/WS2812B-based LED strips can be controlled with a single I/O line using a high-speed one-wire protocol, but they have strict timing requirements that typically make it impractical for the controlling microcontroller to do anything else (including executing interrupt service routines) while it is updating the LEDs.
